Paul-Élie GERNEZ (1888-1948) – Rare and important double-sided study sheet: Women in Norman headdresses & Cubist-inspired landscape
-
Description:
An exceptional collector's item that offers two major facets of Paul-Élie Gernez's talent on a single support.- On the recto: A particularly sensitive and graphic study of two women wearing the traditional Norman headdress, a strong regionalist subject and highly sought after by the artist. Authenticated by the purple stamp with the flower of the Gernez estate.
-
On the verso: A magnificent pencil landscape with a decidedly modern, Cubist-inspired composition. The artist schematizes the volumes of nature (trees and hills) with geometric lines and dynamic planes, bearing witness to his avant-garde plastic research.
A double work ideal for framing between two panes.
