Biography
Paul Wunderlich, born in Eberswalde (Brandenburg) on March 10, 1927 and died in Carpentras on June 6, 2010, is a German painter, engraver, lithographer and sculptor. He is famous for his unique style mixing realism and surrealism.
Wunderlich studied at the Hamburg School of Fine Arts from 1947 to 1951 and then became a professor at the Hamburg School of Fine Arts from 1963 to 1968, after spending several years in Paris (1960-1963).

In 1981, he settled permanently in Paris and was elected correspondent of the Académie des Beaux-Arts (Engraving section) on 27 May of the same year. He is also a member of the Royal Academy of Sciences, Letters and Fine Arts of Belgium, as well as the Freie Akademie der Künste in Hamburg.
Paul Wunderlich has left his mark on contemporary art with his engraved and sculpted works, influenced by surrealism and fantasy. He is known for his ability to combine the human figure with abstract and symbolic forms. His works are regularly exhibited in major European galleries and are part of numerous museum collections.
