Biography

David Lan-Bar, pseudonym of David Langberg, was born on December 26, 1911 in Rava-Rouska, Poland and died on March 26, 1992 in Paris. Fleeing the pogroms, he went to Jerusalem in 1934. As a student of Miron Sima at the Hebrew University, he later settled in Tel Aviv before moving to Paris in 1948, seeking new artistic inspiration. His work evolved towards an abstract style, emphasizing the superposition of colors and the density of the paste, described by Jean-Pierre Delarge as an "abstract impressionism". He has been exhibited in many prestigious museums, such as the Musée national d'art moderne in Paris, the Art Institute of Chicago, and has participated in international biennials. David Lan-Bar was awarded the title of Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres for his contribution to the art world.
