Biography
Charles Martin, born February 28, 1884 in Montpellier, is a French designer known for his delicate style. Mastering the techniques of etching and stencil, his work is inspired by cubism, characterized by a precise and joyful line. He began in light magazines before collaborating with prestigious publications such as the Gazette du Bon Ton and Harper's Bazar. Martin moved towards luxury and decorative art, illustrating around twenty books, including "Sports et Divertissements" with Erik Satie and "Les Silences du colonel Bramble" by André Maurois. His work is also marked by portraits, such as that of the painter André Dignimont. He died in Paris in 1934.
