Biographie

Bécon, Yves, born in 1909 in Finistère and died in 2004 in Montivilliers, was a renowned French painter. A great colorist, he distinguished himself with his landscapes and scenes imbued with light, particularly that of Le Havre, where he settled in 1952.

After spending his youth in the Paris region and training as a painter, Yves Bécon moved to Le Havre in 1952 to pursue his artistic career. Fascinated by the light of Le Havre, he developed a unique style, marked by vibrant colors and luminous landscapes of Normandy.


His work, which reflects his attachment to the Le Havre region, earned him local and national recognition. In tribute to his artistic contribution, a Place Yves Bécon was inaugurated in Aplemont on October 5, 2013, by Édouard Philippe, then deputy mayor of Le Havre. His legacy continues to influence the history of art in the Le Havre region.
