Sylvain Vigny (1903-1970) was a French painter of Austrian origin, self-taught, living in Nice, known for his role in the artistic life of Nice alongside Jean Moulin and other major artists.

Sylvain Vigny, born April 8, 1903 in Vienna (Austria) and died February 4, 1970 in Nice, was a self-taught French painter. After a youth marked by an adventurous life in Vienna and Paris, he moved to Nice in 1934, where he lived for a time at 6, rue Dante. He frequented the Romanin Art Gallery opened by Jean Moulin, sharing this space with figures such as the brothers Pierre and Jacques Prévert, Nikos Papatakis, Django Reinhardt and the Nice painter Jean Cassarini. From 1955, Sylvain Vigny became a recognized figure in Nice art, establishing himself alongside his artist friends Ben (Benjamin Vautier), Claude Morini and Bernard Damiano. His work contributed to the cultural and artistic vitality of Nice in the 20th century.
