Léo Duprat began his career as an upholsterer before devoting himself fully to painting. Self-taught, he explored various styles and techniques, with the exception of oil painting. His works reflect a deep attachment to his surroundings, with views of the rooftops of Paris from his apartment on Rue Bonaparte and views of his house in Dormelles.
His intimate compositions skillfully exploit light and play with perspective and decorative flat tints, inspired by the fabric prints he handled in his work as an upholsterer. Everyday objects and furniture are magnified, creating joyful atmospheres and representations of life that are both simple and touching, seducing the viewer with their warmth and harmony.
