Jack (Jacques) Clemente was born in 1926 in Novara, Italy, where he graduated with a degree in literature and philosophy. He continued his artistic studies at the Brera Academy in Milan before moving to Paris in 1952.


In 1953, he held his first solo exhibition at the Galerie de la Muette and continued his career by exhibiting in London in 1957 at the New Art Centre. His works from this period are characterized by an abstract style inspired by prehistoric and geological imagery.


In the 1960s, Clemente moved towards new forms of artistic expression, gradually abandoning oil painting to devote himself to the assemblage of so-called “non-art” objects. This shift reflected his desire to explore new materials and concepts.


His work is distinguished by its fusion of abstraction and motifs inspired by ancient and geological forms, offering a unique perspective on the evolution of his art. Jack Clemente died in 1974, leaving behind an influential artistic legacy marked by his experimentation and distinctive style.


Clemente remains a major figure in abstract art, recognized for his ability to integrate unconventional elements into his creations and enrich the artistic dialogue of his time.
