Artist Biography

Bloch Henrik, born 1931, Danish painter, stage designer and librettist, graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 1952. He made his debut in 1953 at the Royal Danish Theatre, both as a stage designer and librettist with Børge Ralov's ballet The Courtesan. The discreetly coloured stage images are three-dimensional painting, rather than plastic scenography. His first acting assignment at the Royal Danish Theatre in 1956, Armand Salacroux Marguerite, marked the beginning of a more than 20-year collaboration with the future director of the Odense Theatre, Kai Wilton. In the 1980s and 1990s, B was particularly associated with the Jørgen Blaksted Tour.
