Guy Pierre Arthur Pichon was born on May 1, 1933, in Cherbourg, into a family of shipyard carpenters. Gifted in mathematics, he attended the Rouen Teacher Training College and then the École Normale Supérieure de Saint-Cloud, before pursuing a distinguished career in research and university teaching. At the same time, he devoted himself to painting as an autodidact, developing a style inspired by Marquet, Corot, Derain, Sisley, and Dufy.
Passionate about the Normandy seaside, Pichon painted churches, beaches, skies, and shores, from the tip of La Hague to Dieppe, capturing the light and softness of the landscapes. A member of the Independent Artists of Paris and Normandy, he participated in numerous exhibitions and passed on his passion to his grandson, Frédéric Luquet. Guy Pierre Arthur Pichon died in Rouen in 2007, leaving an artistic legacy deeply linked to the landscapes of his native region.
