André Auclair

Biographie

André Auclair, born March 5, 1893 in Paris and died November 22, 1976 in Saint-Thomé, was a French painter, sculptor, ceramist, and engraver. A member of the Society of Independent Artists, he exhibited his works in several Salons des Tuileries.

André Auclair developed a multidisciplinary artistic career, combining painting, sculpture, ceramics, and engraving. He exhibited his drawings, red chalks, and portraits at the Salons des Tuileries and was a member of the Society of Independent Artists. In 1938, he burned a large portion of his works, marking a turning point in his artistic life.


Auclair taught at the Beaux-Arts studios at 80 Boulevard du Montparnasse, training renowned students such as Édouard Pignon and Marcel Mouly. His influence on the 20th-century French art scene was evident both in his creations and in his role as an educator.
