Alcide Le Beau, born on July 29, 1873 in Lorient, studied at the Jesuit colleges of Lorient and Vannes before moving to Paris in 1890 to devote himself to painting. He was the companion of the artist Irène Reno, with whom he exhibited at the Salon de la Section d'Or in 1912. Close to artists such as Henri Matisse, Raoul Dufy, and Albert Marquet, he drew inspiration from Parisian life as well as Breton landscapes, as well as from his stays on the Côte d'Azur, Corsica, and Sicily.

His work, exhibited in several Parisian galleries, reflects the influence of Japonism, the Synthetism of the Pont-Aven school, and post-Impressionist Divisionism. From 1915 to 1921, he lived briefly in Colombier, Switzerland, before returning to settle permanently in France. His paintings remain deeply influenced by the landscapes and atmospheres of the regions he traveled throughout his life.
